Thomas J. Owen grew up in the central Pennsylvania community of Elizabethtown. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University, where he was an all-conference football player. Owen became interested in pursuing art when, after obtaining a teaching degree in biology, he happened to take an evening art class. Owen went on to study with Robert E. Wood, Ed Whitney, and Rex Brandt and has established himself as one of the Southwest's premier landscape painters. Owen has won over 50 awards in National and International exhibitions including the prestigious Rouse Gold Medallion in the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolor, the Juror's Choice in the San Diego International Watermedia exhibition and many others. Tom also conducts workshops throughout the United States and internationally.
